I'm happy to anounce our seventh contest!

This time I come up with something that's perfect for Easter!

Egg Hunt!

Our seventh challenge will be about eggs!

This is what you will have to do:

Your artwork must contain an egg!It can be any kind of egg,dinosaur,chicken,alien etc.

IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE SPECIFICALLY AN EASTER SCENE!THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX! It could be dark,emotional,even horror,but it MUST have an egg in it.

An egg hunt is a game during which decorated eggs or Easter eggs are hidden for children to find. Real hard-boiled eggs, which are typically dyed or painted, artificial eggs made of plastic filled with chocolate or candies, or foil-wrapped egg-shaped chocolates of various sizes are hidden in various places. The game is often played outdoors, but can also be played indoors. The children typically collect the eggs in a basket. When the hunt is over, prizes may be given out for various achievements, such as the largest number of eggs collected, for the largest or smallest egg, for the most eggs of a specific color, consolation prizes or booby prizes. Real eggs may further be used in egg tapping contests. If eggs filled with confetti left from Mardi Gras (cascarones) are used, then an egg fight may follow. Eggs are placed with varying degree of concealment, to accommodate children of varying ages and development levels. In South German folk traditions it was customary to add extra obstacles to the game by placing them into hard-to reach places among nettles or thorns.

The egg was a symbol of the rebirth of the earth in pre-Christian celebrations of spring. However, the Easter egg itself was defined by early Christians as an Easter symbol of the resurrection of Jesus: the egg symbol was likened to the tomb from which Christ arose. Lizette Larson-Miller, a professor with the Graduate Theological Union of Berkeley, traces the specific custom of the Easter egg hunt to the Protestant Christian Reformer Martin Luther, stating "We know that Martin Luther had Easter egg hunts where the men hid the eggs for the women and children, and it probably has this connection back to this idea of eggs being the tomb." At least since the 17th century the idea of the Easter Bunny to bring the Easter eggs has been known. The novelty of the introduction of Easter egg hunts into England is evidenced by A. E. Housman's inaugural lecture as Professor of Latin at University College, London in 1892, in which he said, "In Germany at Easter time they hide coloured eggs about the house and garden that the children may amuse themselves in discovering them."

En la jarra etrusca de Tagliatella (museos capitolinos) ya aparecía el huevo como posible símbolo de resurreción del rey Teseo.

Aparece en la jarra de vino etrusca de Tragliatella (aproximadamente 700 a. C.), en el que aparecen el rey sagrado y su sucesor escapando de un laberinto. El otro lado de este jarrón ilustra un desfile a pie en la dirección del Sol, encabezada por el rey sagrado desarmado. Siete hombres le escoltan y cada uno de ellos lleva tres jabalinas y un gran escudo con el dibujo de un jabalí, y el sucesor armado con una lanza va a la retaguardia. El jabalí sería la insignia familiar del rey sucesor, y los siete hombres representarían los siete meses gobernados por el sucesor, que caen entre la cosecha de manzanas y las fiestas de la fertilidad.

La escena tiene lugar el día de la muerte ritual del rey, y la diosa Luna (en este caso Pasífae) ha salido a su encuentro (una terrible figura con túnica y con un amenazante brazo en jarras, mientras que con el otro brazo extendido le ofrece una manzana, que es su pasaporte para el Paraíso); las tres jabalinas que lleva cada hombre significan la muerte.

Sin embargo, el rey es acompañado por una pequeña figura femenina con túnica como la otra; quizá sea la princesa Ariadna (que ayudó al héroe Teseo a salir del laberinto mortal en Cnosos). El rey muestra audazmente, como un contra hechizo de la manzana, un huevo de Pascua, el huevo de la resurrección. La Pascua era la estación en que se realizaban las danzas «Ciudad de Troya» en los laberintos hechos sobre el césped (quizá como una coreografía) en Gran Bretaña prehistórica y también en Etruria.

En el frente de la jarra hay un dibujo laberíntico que se encuentra no solo en ciertas monedas de Cnosos, sino también en los intrincados dibujos hechos en el césped y que hasta el siglo XIX pisaban los escolares británicos en la Pascua de Resurrección.

Un huevo sagrado etrusco de traquita negra pulimentada, encontrado en Perusa (Italia), con una flecha en relieve a su alrededor, es este mismo huevo sagrado.

Entre los siglos IX y XVIII, la Iglesia prohibió el consumo de huevos durante la cuaresma por considerarlo equivalente a la carne, y por ello la gente los cocía y los pintaba para diferenciarlos de los frescos y poder consumirlos el día de Pascua de Resurrección. Con el tiempo, estas tradiciones se incorporaron a la festividad de Pascua de Resurrección y hoy en día el huevo de Pascua es un símbolo universal. Para muchos, el huevo se asemeja a la resurrección como un símbolo de vida nueva.

En la actualidad, la tradición continúa con algunas variaciones. En Europa se mantiene la costumbre que data desde la Edad Media de adornar huevos con teñidos y pintados. Aunque parece que la práctica de huevos ornamentales era principalmente elaborada por clases altas o de recursos, se difundió a decoraciones más sencillas, como con el empleo de hojas de árbol para crear patrones sobre el cascarón. El comercio y la modernidad por su parte se ha encargado de incorporar los huevos de chocolate, y los huevos de plástico para ser llenos de dulces, y que según la leyenda son escondidos por el conejo de Pascua para que los niños los busquen, y por consiguiente, los encuentren y se los coman. En Argentina y Uruguay, se conserva la tradición de regalar huevos de Pascua decorados artesanalmente con glasé multicolor o bien en chocolate. Mientras, en el norte de México huevos rellenados de confeti, conocidos como cascarones, son decorados y cubiertos con papel.

Advanced:You are more sure of your skills and things come easy to you. You haven't mastered it all but you are confident and thing don't take as long as they once did.
